The Music Club organised by Nahoon Reef Productions was launched on 26 February 2009. It provides a forum where musicians can play on good equipment to discerning audiences. Although the Music Club will generally promote and present local music, the special launch concert brought to East London US singer and songwriter Shawn Phillips.
The concert received the full support of local music lovers and enthusiasts, and tickets were sold out well in advance. A tangible excitement and enthusiasm was evident at the launch, as the audience expressed its obvious approval of the idea of a local Music Club.
Since, then, Gary Thomas played to an appreciative audience, and he was back for the third time in April 2010. Two nights of Arno Carstens and Albert Frost were a real treat for everyone who attended. In May, an all local line-up of Snail (the reunion), Serotonin and The Elevators played. Snail was not allowed to leave without doing a second, unrehearsed and spontaneous set (and to collect items of lingerie hanging from the mic stand)!
Sensational BRAZILIAN band NAPALMA were something not to be missed (they will be back later in the year) as were BLK JKS, and old favourites ROBIN AULD with John Dicken were as good as ever. BRIAN FINCH, backed by THE ELEVATORS was possibly the highlight of the year for many, with Dan Patlansky and Dino Miranda strong contenders. Farryl Purkiss recently played to a packed house who loved his music. We keep it coming ...
BOOK THESE DATES AND LOOK FORWARD TO:
